Self Care: Bath and Body Works

Bath and Body Works (BBW) is my definition of self care. I am absolutely in love with that store so much that I go there at least once a week. The location to my home is insanely convenient. I would recommend you find the closest BBW to you.

The closest BBW to me is at the Lincolnwood Town Center Mall in Chicago, IL. Each time I am at a BBW, I am instantaneously happier which is funny because I am already excited to go due to the daily deals.

The best way to get their deals is to sign up to be added to BBW mailing list, register via email and/or get the app “My B&BW”; available for free download in both the Android and Apple Stores.

I prefer use the app for immediate access to daily deals and coupons.

The ‘Wallet’ tab of the app shows deals of the day. I make it a habit to check daily. They also have today ONLY deals such as the Car Fragrance Refill in the above image. If I needed hand soaps, car fragrances and/or wallflowers refills I would have been at the store already… Ha!

What I love most about having the app is that for every $100 you spend you get a free gift of up to $16.50. In my opinion, if you don’t have the app, it is difficult to keep track. According to the above image, I am $94.59 away from my next free gift. The app also helps me plan my shopping accordingly.

Once I have spent $100, there will be a notification under the ‘Rewards’ button stating I am entitled to a gift of up to $16.50.

Now to the fun part. I will highlight my favorite BBW staples, how I use them, share tips on best time to purchase and my HONORABLE Mentions.

First up, Wallflower Fragrance Refills. I absolutely cannot live without them. These bad boys keep my home smelling good at all times especially those of us Africans that cook food that lingers on for days/weeks. These 3 are my favorites. Black Cherry Merlot is the staple scent for my living room; Island Margarita is awesome for the bedroom and Stress Relief for my bathrooms.

Tip: Always buy these during the 6 for $18 or 7 for $24 deal and save your $10 off $30 coupons towards your purchases.

I like purchasing fun, unique and yet functional Wall Plugins that reflects my bubbly personality. In addition to getting decorative ones, I recommend getting plain ones and at least two that light up at night (perfect for the bathrooms and for homes with kids).

Tip: Always get wall plugins as an add on gift. For example, during a buy $10 worth and get an item up to $12 free, that’s when I would pick up my decorative wall plugins. That way you’ll have enough to change up your plugins as needed.

Next up, Room Sprays. I love using room sprays for my cushioned dinning room chairs/couches, ottoman, made beds and bathroom rugs. Spraying this gives my room an immediate misty and refreshing smell that lingers on my decorative pillows….. Aaaahhhhhhh.

Tip: These room sprays are regularly $7.50 each. I bought it during a daily deal for $3 each. Each time I know the baseline price which is $3 in this case, that’s the price I will always purchase it at. STOCK up on your favorites.

Next hand-soaps, I think it is good hygiene practice to get in the habit of washing ones hands as soon as you make into your home, after using the bathroom as well as before, during and after cooking. What better way to do that than with well scented hand soaps; I actually look forward to washing my hands every single time.

Tip: Stock up on these especially if you have kids, visitors and/or family over frequently. Also, best time to purchase is during a $10 off $30 deal; you end up paying a little over $2 for one rather than paying full price of $6.50.

Yes, my OCD loves hand sanitizers for the times I am at restaurants/events and too hungry to go wash my hands; makes these totally worth it to me. They have cute hand sanitizer holders as well which I have never seen go on sale like ever. The plain black holder is hubby’s and the one with the anchor is mine 😉

Tip: Get hand sanitizers as a filler purchase. For example if you are trying to get to a threshold of $20 to get a deal and you’re at $18.99, pick yourself up one. lol

This Body Wash or Foam Baths are essential to my weekly bubble bath routine and deserving of my first HONORABLE MENTION. All Aromatherapy products are great but my favorite is the Stress Relief; there is something about the combination of Sage and Cedarwood; it does amazing things to my body.

Tip: I never purchased one of these at full price of $16.50 but alway get them once I met my $100 threshold. If you’d like to know how I was able to get this many (total of 6) without always meeting that threshold, leave me a comment 😉

Last but certainly not least, is another Aromatherapy brand Stress Relief. This is an oil-based body scrub. On days my body is tenses but too tired to draw a bath, I would use this and it is everything. This is the second one I have purchased. This is what I treat myself to once I meet the $100 threshold and that is why this is my second HONORABLE MENTION.

Tip: Maximize product by applying it directly to tense areas. Also, I would use this sparingly and plan on washing up the floor after use so as not to slip in the tub.
